The FRENZY Dip ’n Rip Complete Hot-Wax Travel Set is a compact all-in-one solution to hot-wax your bike chain anywhere, using nothing more than hot water.
Hot-waxing doesn’t have to be complex or tied to a workshop. The FRENZY Dip ’n Rip Complete Hot-Wax Travel Set was developed for riders who want the benefits of hot-waxing wherever they ride. Whether you’re on holiday, at a training camp or on a bikepacking trip, this kit allows you to maintain your drivetrain properly without relying on an electric wax pot.
At the heart of the set is the Dip ’n Rip travel smelter, a heat-resistant silicone container designed specifically for hot-wax. Simply place your wax inside the smelter and set it in a pot of hot water. No power outlet, no bulky equipment, just a simple and effective au bain-marie setup that works anywhere.
The elongated design ensures your chain fits naturally inside the smelter, unlike traditional round containers where chains must be bent or forced. After waxing, the chain can be held above the smelter to allow excess wax to drip back in, keeping your workspace clean and conserving wax.
Once finished, the smelter can be securely closed and placed directly into your luggage or toolbox. The wax remains clean, contained and ready for the next use. This makes the Dip ’n Rip Set not only a travel solution, but also a practical way to start hot-waxing without investing in an expensive electric smelter.
The included FRENZY TrailWax delivers excellent lubrication, low friction and active dirt repulsion, ensuring a clean, quiet and efficient drivetrain even in dusty or abrasive conditions.
Place the wax in the Dip ’n Rip melter and set it in a pot of hot water until the wax is fully melted. Make sure your chain is properly degreased and completely dry beforehand. Fully submerge the chain, allow the wax to penetrate the links and slowly remove it.
Let the chain drip above the melter so excess wax is recovered. Hang the chain to allow the wax to fully cool and harden. Close the smelter afterwards to keep the wax clean and dust-free for the next waxing session. Cleaning is easy by letting any remaining wax cool and removing it once solid.
Gravel and mountain biking push your chain to the limit. Standard waxes, often sold as ‘all-round’ solutions, can't handle the relentless dirt, dust, and punishing conditions of the trails. They wear off too quickly, let contamination in, and don’t offer enough protection against wear.
